Ana Paula Luna

Born in Michoacan, Mexico. 1983. I was raised in Texas, USA, until I came back to Mexico when
I was still a kid, I began studying sculpture first as a hobbie, when I was very young (16),
but by the second year I was already immersed and fascinated in the possibilities of shapes,
texture and language of sculpture.

Since then I have been dedicated basically full time to sculpture, searching for my art,
not to answer issues, but just to make the right questions. Art is to me a peaceful tool
of social transformation, that like humidity, slowly but surely will reach its aim.

Most of my work is based on different inlaid materials, as a way of inserting soul into
non animated objects of everyday life. Some more figurative than others, the general aim
is to communicate small, and yet what I consider transcendent social issues one at a time.

I studied a technical carrier in sculpture, also studied African traditional sculpture in
the sculpture school of Bagamoyo in Tanzania. As well as a bachelor degree in philosophy,
and currently studying cultural management in the University of Guadalajara.

My love for travel in combination with my work, has brought me to participate in art shows
in a wide variety of countries and places around the globe,
as well as understanding not just cultural differences, but human similarities.
