Maurice yeka was born on the 10 october 1981 in bunia, in 1999-2000 he complited his higher education in plastic arts at the painting department of the academy of fine arts in uganda.

PROFESIONAL ACTIVITIES

1997-1999 Before attending the academy of fine art,maurice realise approximatelly one hundred popular works(paintings)on the subject of the education of the peasant (e.g. struggle against poaching; struggle against alcohlism in ituri)

2000-prensent he is a member of congolaise association of plastic artist and a member of "ateliers BOTEMBE",a group of artist classified among the inovators of contemporary congolaise art.in this group MAURICE hold;the task of exhibition superintendend. He carrie out four important wall paintings in his native province in the church of aru:la main de Dieu(God`s hands,5x5)in the cinema hall of ariwara (WAIBRAHIMU plan):tous(every body),paix-unite(peace unity,2.5x1.8m),crucification(cruicifiction,2.5x1.8m)

2001- he take parts in numerous cultural event in congo and abroad(e.g.brazaville,equatorialguinea,uganda,china,senegal
France,belguim,italy,germany,new york,washington d.c.,maryland,rhode island,vermont).

INSPIRATION:

MAURICE draws his inpiration from black african art,from daily life(topically)and from contemporary art in general.in last years he has also turned histo the material assembly technique,and works on elaborating a particular pictorial grammar:the proper use of soft and hard material,like canvas,sheet,wood,paper, metalsect. this aim originates from his anxienty to`reconcile man with him self`for the reconstruction of a world based on the values.
