I think that the residency will offer the resident artists an ideal context for reflexion, meditation and practice. It will also help me realize my artistic project consisting in trying new techniques and approaches in order to produce an artwork that combines my subjective vision and the cultural components of my identity. My language (arabic) is well known for its artistic calligraphy which is even considered as an art in itself. But what intersts me in my project is not the meaning of the letters but their forms, that is to say their aesthetic dimension. I've been studying the moroccan calligraphy for two years and i intend to integrate it into my artwork in the future.

The approach will concern also the shape of the canvas. I want to adopt the shape of the school tablets. Larger on the top than on the bottom with round edges. The frame of the canvas will be covered by a linen cloth or wood. It will be bigger than the traditional school tablets and vary between 100 cm long and 70 cm large.

The topic of my artwork will be suitable to the type of the canvas .And as the later was employed to support handwriting, my own canvas will be filled with graphics, lines and drawings made with black, golden, and coloured inks and other kinds of natural paintings and mixed medias. The writting will be in moroccan calligraphy. I will also try to use the colours used in the miniatures of the persan artists and the formal and geometric paterns specific to the moslem sacred art.
