Nathani Lüneburg

 

Nathani Lüneburg was born in 1982 and completed her MA (Fine Arts) degree at the University of Pretoria in 2006. Lüneburg is currently a full time Art-and Graphic Design lecturer at Rosebank College, Pretoria; working with young black artists from various communities. She is an active study-supervisor for three Fine Arts Honours students at the University of Pretoria. She recently participated in the International Triennialle of Contemporary Arts 2008, Prague, Czech Republic, where four of her stop-frame animations were exhibited amongst 180 artworks from across the world. She will be participating in a three month artist-residency program at the Monash University’s Art and Design Faculty in Melbourne, Australia (5 October - 12 December 2008). Lüneburg received a merit award at the Absa L’ Atelier Art Awards in 2006 and the award for the Best Multi-media Art student at the University of Pretoria in 2004. She was a top-ten finalist in 2004 and 2006 at the Absa L’ Atelier Art Awards and participated in several other art competitions such as the Ekhuruleni Art Awards 2007; the Sasol New Signatures Competition 2004 - 2007 and the Absa L’ Atelier Art Awards 2004 - 2007. She has had a solo exhibition in Pretoria and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Johannesburg (University of Johannesburg; Gordart Gallery, Absa Gallery), Pretoria (Centurion Theatre, Fried Contemporary Art Gallery, University of Pretoria, Pretoria Art Museum), Kempton Park (Ekhuruleni Art Awards), Potchefstroom (Aardklop National Arts Festival 2004 and 2006, Main Museum), Oudtshoorn (Klein Karoo National Arts Festival 2007), Stellenbosch (Klein Libertas Theatre, Boere Bar) and Cape Town (ArtScape Theatre, Design Indaba Expo 2007).
