The Womb is a nomadic art installation that questions various themes that divide the humanity.
The installation is organised around the Tulip, an exhibition space that encircles its artists’ expressions, where cultures, religions, ethnicities and other divisive questions are brought to the party to be considered in light of each other.
The art works are exhibited at the centre of its structure, so the viewer encounters them as from within the Womb: an invitation to reflect on our differences through unworldly eyes. The spectator becomes performer, enacting an otherwise impossibly uncultured and fresh viewpoint.
For as long as it is upheld, this performative gaze witnesses the disappearance of ‘You’ and ‘I’, giving way to a connected and complex being that embraces the most contradicting views of the world.
The Womb thus yields a glimpse of the relations from which we are made –
THE REAL DNA.
The objective of the Womb Project is to bring together communities with conflicting views of the world to celebrate their differences through various means – art, science and culture.
It aims to engage artists, intellectuals, scientists and opinion leaders in building collaboratively bridges between various communities.
The Womb will provide an affordable multipurpose mobile art venue to communities where gallery space is at a premium, sectioned off, privatised.
