Although the project's main objective is to enhance the participation in the arts of the international disadvantaged children, we use the collaborative environment and techniques with peers from more privileged backgrounds to overcome the social/economic/ethnic issues that may otherwise prevent the target population from participating in the arts.
MetaGeneration project help increasing skill and creativity by supporting activities which help to develop people and organisations, encourage talent and raise standards
Participating school students will learn new techniques in the production of simulated stained glass. Most of the 30 Liverpudlian artists who have participated in the first phase of the project will be supporting them to produce high quality artworks.
The concept uses artistically the idea of the DNA to increase the awareness of sharing the same human building blocks. Each teamed pair of participants will create one 1m2 of artwork on plexiglass on a theme inspired from one of the four DNA components, A, C, G and T. The participants will learn from the Workshop that collaboration and team work through art can achieve results and brings recognition and admiration. They will also learn that art and science can mingle and interact and can be a useful means to expressing oneself.
MetaGeneration projects improve the quality of life by supporting local projects that improve people’s opportunities, health, welfare, environment or local facilities
Liverpool is an exciting cosmopolitan town and yet, children are not fully benefiting from this diversity as each community is entrenched in its neighbo u rhood. In some cases, this has led to an increased intolerance, ASB and violence.
If successful, we hope to make this workshop an annual 'standalone' experience that will take place in the participating schools. This will lead to improving the children s neighbo u rhood social environment and to increasing inter-communit y social cohesion.
MetaGeneration meets The North West England regional outcomes
Our project will help achieving the Regional Outcome of bringing different communities to working more closely together.
Both ethnically and professionally diverse communities are brought together to address at various levels and in different ways the issue of multiculturalism. Children learn about each other via hands on practice and adults through the outcome of the workshop. Visual artists learn by integrating their work in a more comprehensive way that includes other performing artists, intellectuals, scientists and opinion leaders who will convene during the Womb show for a week long programme of events that aims to build bridges between various communities.
