This is a community building art installation that aims to reflect the conflicting view of the world by members of multicultural communities.
By placing the various artistic expressions of our views in one physical space, i.e. the Womb, the viewer is invited to reflect on our differences with the freshness of the f o etus eyes. For the initiated viewer, ‘You’ and ‘I’ disappear leaving place to the connected and complex being that embraces the most contradicting views of the world.
The Womb Structure
The structure will be made of 5 segments to be created in each of our target locations.
The creation procedure
1. Consultation with selected art institutions in each of the target locations for the commission of the local Womb segment.
2. Competition for the design of the different Womb segments in partnership with selected univer s ities in our target locations.
3. Selection of the winners.
4. Creation phase: it takes place simultaneously in the 5 different locations over the period 2010-2012.
5. The 5 segments will be united in London in 2012 to constitu t e the integrality of the Womb installation.
